BIO
Hailing from Rio de Janeiro, and with deep roots in blues and rock, Edgard has over two and a half decades of experience touring, recording, and leading projects across genres—from funk/fusion big bands and country/pop sideman gigs to fronting progressive rock and instrumental fusion groups.
His musical journey began at the age of seven, learning Brazilian Popular Music (MPB) and classical etudes on his grandfather’s acoustic guitar. Yet something already drew him toward the powerful, distorted sounds of the electric guitar, which allowed him to tap into his creativity and unleash the music he heard in his inner world. Blues and classic rock flowed naturally through him, and discovering Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Jimi Hendrix triggered an epiphany that forever changed his life.
With a deep love for jamming, creating, and playing with others, Edgard was soon invited to join several of his friends’ bands. Eventually, he formed his first band in high school, an experience that reassured him that guitar and music were not just passions but a calling he would pursue professionally.
He later moved to Los Angeles to study at GIT (Guitar Institute of Technology) at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA, where he graduated with honors. There, he refined his craft under elite artists such as Dean Brown, Scott Henderson, and Jinshi Ozaki. While living in LA, he also received mentorship from virtuosos Jeff Kollman and Nick Johnston, which further expanded both his skill and musical perception.
During this time, he formed and joined projects across multiple genres, exploring the wide range of his versatile musicality—from blues/rock groups to jazz/fusion big bands, instrumental power trios to progressive rock bands, as well as working as a sideman for pop, country, and alternative rock acts that toured across the U.S.
In 2017, Edgard joined the progressive rock band Polymorph after being invited to perform at several shows, eventually becoming a permanent member. Together, they have performed extensively throughout Southern California at legendary venues such as the Whisky a Go-Go and the Viper Room, and recorded their first EP, Akitu. In 2020, the band relocated to Strasbourg, France, where they continue performing and recording. They released their debut album Tangible Dreams in 2023 and are currently working on their next release.
Edgard’s first solo EP, Edgard | Live at Bedrock, offered an early glimpse into his fierce live performances and songwriting. Originally released in 2018 with a concert at The Hotel Café in Hollywood, CA, it will soon be reissued and made available worldwide on all streaming platforms.
After spending the past five years traveling extensively between the United States, Europe, and Brazil—gathering inspiration, writing new material, and reconnecting with himself through a process of self-discovery—Edgard is now based in Northern California. He is preparing to record a wide range of material he has been developing over the years and is ready to share it with both longtime supporters and new audiences.
